Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program (HEAR)

  1. United Hub is currently leading a comprehensive rebate and incentive program funded by the Washington State Department of Commerce. This initiative focuses on facilitating the adoption of high-efficiency electric equipment among low- and moderate-income (LMI) households and adult family homes across Washington State. Our goals include reducing energy consumption, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and improving indoor air quality.

Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Expansion

United Hub has been awarded a grant by the Washington State Department of Commerce as part of an $85 million initiative to enhance the state's electric vehicle charging infrastructure. We are one of the three statewide winners contributing to this expansion, focusing on installing nearly 5,000 new EV charging stations, particularly in King County. This project targets multifamily housing and public areas, aiming to improve access to clean energy and reduce pollution in communities most at risk of negative health effects caused by fossil fuel emissions.

Apple Health and Homes Capacity Building Grant

Through this grant, United Hub is establishing strong networks of community support service providers and housing providers. The Apple Health and Homes (AHAH) initiative, funded by the Washington State Department of Commerce, focuses on capacity-building efforts that support permanent supportive housing services. This includes operations, maintenance, and service costs for PSH units, project-based vouchers, and rental subsidies. Our role involves adding Foundational Community Supports (FCS) to our services, which will provide pre-tenancy and post-tenancy supports to help eligible individuals obtain and maintain permanent supportive housing. We work in partnership with multiple organizations, including the Health Care Authority and Community Health Network of Washington, to ensure comprehensive support for those in need.

We are so proud to be one of the community-based organizations and groups that can help bring input from people who may not typically be involved in public planning processes. In addition to gathering input from people from a range of identities, backgrounds, and experiences, this effort is intended to support ongoing relationships between the City and communities beyond this project.

ARCH Community Outreach Project

United Hub partnered with A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH) to engage underrepresented populations in East King County. This project aimed to gather input on displacement and affordability concerns, preferred housing types, and locations to inform planning and policy decisions. We collaborated with Eastside For All and various community-based organizations to ensure broad participation from renters, BIPOC individuals, immigrant communities, low- and moderate-income persons, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups. The engagement included community events, small group conversations, and individual meetings to gather comprehensive feedback and support the development of middle housing options that increase housing density and affordability.

Our Approach

United Hub collaborates with local businesses, community organizations, and government entities to implement these projects successfully. We ensure that our programs serve low-income households, vulnerable populations, and overburdened communities. By leveraging our team's expertise and fostering strong partnerships, we strive to create a holistic, inclusive housing landscape that prioritizes renewable energy and environmental equity.
