On Friday, June 6, 2025, United Hub—in cooperation with the City of Redmond Sustainability Office—hosted a special community round table and pottery workshop to introduce residents to Redmond’s Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP).

The event blended meaningful dialogue with hands-on creativity, offering a unique way for neighbors to connect with local climate goals while reflecting on their role in shaping a more sustainable future.

Participants enjoyed hands on pottery projects while sharing their insights about a greener future.

The round table kicked off with the participants sharing their own stories about how climate change is already impacting life in Redmond—and what we can do about it.

Participants explored the connections between climate change and public health, housing stability, transportation, and access to clean air and water. The group acknowledged that some community members face these impacts more directly and more often, highlighting the need for equitable solutions.

As the conversation unfolded, participants identified several key challenges and opportunities for local action:

  • Challenges included limited awareness of available resources, affordability of sustainable home upgrades, and uneven access to transit and green spaces.

  • Opportunities included expanding climate education, supporting neighborhood-based initiatives, investing in local renewable energy, and empowering youth and frontline communities to lead.

The discussion made clear: while climate change is a global issue, the most meaningful solutions often begin at the local level—and with local voices.

Local voices and real actions that can impact our communities.

To complement the round table and invite broader participation, the event included a pottery craft session, where attendees molded clay into planters, plates, and other pieces inspired by nature and sustainability.

The creative activity sparked informal conversations, fostered a sense of community, and gave participants a way to reflect personally on the themes of the day.

This event marks an important step in connecting Redmond’s Environmental Sustainability Action Plan to the everyday lives of its residents. The City and United Hub are committed to continuing this work—supporting a resilient, inclusive, and climate-ready Redmond.

Stay tuned for upcoming workshops, community-led projects, and more opportunities to participate.
